Frank Lloyd Wright Photography

fallingwater.
Unfortunately, pictures don't quite do Fallingwater justice - and good thing too, because I wasn't allowed to take many pictures during my tour. But after visiting, I finally understood why Fallingwater has had such a profound impact on architecture. One thing I hadn't considered before my visit was the sound of the water flowing around the house as I moved through it. It really made me realize that design isn't just about what you see, but it's about engaging all of your senses.

polymath park.
Not far from Fallingwater is Polymath Park, a charming collection of Frank Lloyd Wright's Usonian homes. One aspect that stood out to me was the common theme of either small garages or no garage at all. Reflecting his unique approach to modern living, I guess Wright found the idea of storing cars inside the home rather absurd.

conclusion.
The homes at Polymath Park do a great job of bringing the outdoors in, and they're absolutely beautiful, but they definitely feel like they’re from a different time. I remember having to sidestep into one of the bedrooms because the door was only 18" wide - definitely wouldn’t pass code these days!
